Default Rear Sunshade Issue?

Hey, just noticed my rear extended sunshade waging up and down a bit over bumps ... shouldn't this thing stay tensioned to the window as it extends to prevent this, or is this normal for this design? If it is not normal operation, anyone had this issue and fixed it... what should I check to ensure all is tight in the mounting or otherwise replace any worn parts maybe.

It is somewhat distracting as I drive to see it wag in my rearview mirror...

What do you all think?

When you lower it does it fully retract or does the shade get bunched up at the rear deck?

It fully retracts no problem, just bounces off the rear window when I hit bumps in the car is all.

The bouncing is a defect. I had this same identical thing happen on my 04 UL. It happened so gradually that I didn't at first even notice it. On further inspection, I noticed that at the full up position, the bumper wheels did not rest against the glass. At 75,200 miles I asked my service adviser to check it for me. They replaced the unit as I still had a few months remaining on my Lexus Premium extended warranty at no charge. The receipt showed they charged $1140 for the part, plus labor for a total of $1737.

The shade fits snuggly against the window now with no bouncing.

Wow... I have CPO coverage, I wonder if it will cover it like your "platinum" coverage did... I'll ask the service advisor and report back.

I think mine is gradually degrading as well... the wheels are slightly off the glass at the top as well... hmmmmm

I purchased my car as a CPO in 2007 with 21,000 miles. The car was 3 years old, so I purchased the Lexus Premium warrantee for $1600. As you can see, that was a good buy. I'm a picky person and didn't hesitate to have absolutely every little thing that was not quite perfect corrected.

Hope you shade is covered by your warrantee.

Yikes! I'm way out of even my extended warranty by now and just noticed this happening on mine. Anything that can be done that doesn't cost as much as a used car?
