Master Warning Light when accelerating from a stop
Car Specs: '01 LS430 / 88,000 miles
I am puzzled by the Master Warning Light coming on for just a brief second when i accelerate from a stop. It happens whether i am going straight or turning 90 degrees. I am not accelerating hard either.
I have topped off the anti-freeze to make sure that it is not something as simple as that. I had BG Tranny fluid put in the car about 10 months ago.
I have taken the car to Autozone to see if they could read anything off of the code from the engine. They could not derive anything from the code or lack of. I doubt that the code reader that they have at Autozone is detailed enough to read the code. Or since the warning light does not stay on, that could be a factor.
I doubt someone here will be able to help you "remotely", other than with suggestion.
As far as suggestion....
a. You are right to assume the Autozone's scanner is designed to read codes when the CEL is on, not the warning light.
Most of the time the warning light is accompanied by the scrolling message telling you what is wrong or could be wrong. Try to recruit someone to sit in the car with you and monitor the messages scrolling or temp. popping on the screen. It's going to be difficult to do it yourself.
b. Lexus dealer and some of the higher end indi shops would have a specific Lexus scanner that may be able to pull the information stored in the computer.
I am guessing the 'Master Warning Light' is your check engine light?
Are you sure its not the oil light? Sometimes when the car is low on oil and you turn or accelerate, the oil moves in the pan and can kick the sensor off.
"Master Warning Light" I take it as the big red exclamation point in the center of your dash. The other day my windshield washer fluid was low. The trip computer will read "washer fluid low" but it only appears for a brief second. At first all I was noticing was the ding and the red exclamation point. I swear, everything in this car is an emergency. I would check that.
