2006 LS 430 Throttle Body Question
I get my car serviced at a Lexus dealer every 5000 miles. My 2006 currently has only 35,000 miles.
At 25,000 miles dealer said I needed throttle body cleaning. So I had them do it. Now, at 35,000 miles they tell me I need another throttle body cleaning. Could this car possibly need a throttle body cleaning
again? I declined the cleaning this time.
Is using a gasoline additive or cleaner going to accomplish the same thing? My dealer has a very high rating and I do trust them. They've always been great.
Your opinions are welcome.
Cheers

I don't think there's any way that you would need another cleaning in only 10,000 miles. Even the first cleaning at 25,000 miles seems too soon to me. I cleaned my 01 with 170K for the first time a few months ago. To my knowledge, it had never been done before.

I clean my own every 30K mi. I use a stainless toothbrush, cotton rag, and carb cleaner. Do not spray the carb cleaner directly into the TB since there is a sensor in there (IIRC, at 12 o'clock). The old Toyotas don't have the sensors (whereby you can spray carb cleaner directly into the TB). You should only have a little carbon buildup around the flap after 30K mi. When you work with the TB, make sure the key is NOT in the ignition or messing w/ the flap might throw codes.
