throttle body and MAS cleaning experience
Just felt like sharing my experience, I have a 2007 GS 350 AWD, it has 130K Miles, I never did MAS or throttle body cleaning until today. I decided to use CRC MAS cleaning agent for the job, I didnt bother about buying the CRC throttle body agent as I thought logically about it. MAS is very sensitive and if that CRC MAS agent wont harm it then it will not harm the throttle body. So i went ahead and cleaned both with it. A lot of black mess was on the throttle body, i was amazed, all was removed with a shop towel and I did tilt it manually to clean the back of the plate (throttle body was not removed). I turned on my car and there was a slight vibration for one sec then the idle was rough (close to 2000RPM), my idle is usually 800RPM. I got scared and thought that i might have left a hose lose or something. I hit the internet and a couple of posts mention that the engine is supposed to do that and it is a good indication that the throttle body was dirty. they suggested to disconnect the battery for 15 min which i did. I came back, turned on the engine and a I experienced a harder vibration for a couple of secs. drove the car for a mile or two, things were getting better, I turned it off then on, and it was butter smooth. my idle has improved even better than before, it is running now at about 600RPM. i felt a big difference. It was worth it. What I wanted to point at is the possibility to save money and just buy the MAS cleaning bottle.
