I tried to get into the NAV service screen to disable the speed lockout on my cars NAV system. I have done it before but not for a couple of years. It doesn't seem to work anymore. Wondering if my newer MAP database disables that screen. I never get to the screen for step 7 below. Any ideas?
The procedure I was trying was:
1.Press Menu Hard Button to right of screen
2.Press Volume Box now showing on screen
3.Press Upper Left corner of screen
4.Press Lower Left corner of screen
5.Press Upper Left corner of screen
6.Press Lower Left corner of screen
7.Press and hold override button now showing on the screen until it beeps and changes color
8.Hit back button showing on the screen in upper right
This only works for until the key is turned off. You need to repeat the procedure each time the car is started.
I got un-lazy (temporarily) and actually looked it up on Lexus.com.
The 2004-2006 LS430s were actually Gen4.
However, the OVERRIDE option was deleted in Version 6.1 for both generations.
If you have a map update of 07 or later, you can no longer do the manual hack. And our 04-06 LS have gen 4 NAv systems, not 5 which sucks. 5 opens up much better options.
Beat Sonic is a great vendor if you want to go that route.
Gene01 sent me a PM and clarified that the document he referred to is his own writeup and not bootleg. I suggested that he upload it in plain text format so folks can use it. Continue on...
Caddy, I guess the PM you sent me was premature then? I knew what he was talking about and it stated same in his post that it was his write up. That's why I asked for it...
I finally figured out the upload problem.
Apparently, the limit is 2 MB per file, so I had to bust the PDF into two parts.
The pix are not great, as I had to use a handheld phone camera.
Please let me know about any errors or suggestions to make this a better doc.
I do plan on doing a bit more editing, now that my service manuals have arrived, but it may take a while.
The doc does contain text and photos plagiarized from the fora, so please tell me if you would like attribution. I didn't plan on publishing it, it was originally just for my own use - to organize the information from many places into one.
Hi, RA40.
Good link. I pirated a few sentences from it to put into the next revision of the Nav override doc.
My service manuals arrived, but it will take me a few weeks to add a bit of information from them.
Again, please let me know if there is any way I can improve the doc.
