Question Side Mirrors Refuse to Automatically Open Fully

Recently, i have noticed that my power mirrors has failed to open all the way upon starting the car. sometimes its just the drivers side, other times, they work fine. It said in the book that i had to have the mirror selection switch pointed at the left mirror, as if i were trying to move it. Is the car just being an old fart? its a 2001

It's a known weak point on the 430 - they're probably dying. If you don't want to replace them turn off the automatic fold function (probably set to "Auto" now) and leave them unfolded all the time so at least they don't stick on you when you need them.

What the book is referring to is how to enable or disable the auto-lower feature of the mirrors which angles them downwards when you're in reverse - different from the problem you're having.

Try to spray some sort of lubricant... maybe that will help?

your battery may be going bad. I went as far as having lexus replace my drivers mirror motor and it still didn't fix the problem. as soon as I put a new battery in (had the original 04 stock battery in there) they started opening up every time without fail.
