Default Should I upgrade brake pad?

I am thinking EBC redstuff vs. OEM pads. Could someone share the pros & cons of upgrading?

I don't want to upgrade rotor.

Thanks!

The OEM pads work great and can be purchased from IronToad for about $100 total shipped for front and rear sets. No experience with non OEM pads.

I had post about this recently...
OEM pads - no dust, LONG LIFE (25k miles easy), moderate braking strength, somewhat 'relaxed' pedal feel.
Non-OEM carbon-metallic pads (EBC, Textar etc) - lot's of dust, short life (10k i'd say), strong braking, firm pedal feel, eats rotors much more.

Stick to OEM if you're not changing out rotors. OEM pads were built to work with OEM rotors.

OEM all the way. You cannot improve the stopping distance in a full emergency stop. Here's my logic. Assume the OEM system is fully capable of locking up the wheels during the entire emergency brake event. The anti braking system then releases the brake until it is at the near lockup. That is the best the brakes can do. Now the distance to full stop is then controlled by the size and traction of the tires. Consequently, changing brake pads, rotors, etc will not make an improvement. All the fancy slotted, vented brakes will do is allow you to make several full stops in a row before you brakes start to fade due to overheating.

This is not a knock against the more exotic brakes, just that one shouldn't expect an improvement on a one time emergency stop, which is what most of us are concerned about.
