Just picked up my 04 LS4. Had a great ride from TX to FL, love it.

Can anyone please tell me what this? Also, is there anyway to hide it? It sticks out like a sore thumb.

 

That piece helps to hold up the undercover I think. Maybe u can paint it white but that won't hide it thoo.

 

It can be removed. Usually they fall off on their own. Doesn't serve much purpose. Just take off and replace the screws back in the hole

 

wind deflector in front of all wheels...

 

Yes, I noticed it last night in front of the rear wheel on this pic of my car.

 

it's an independent part that holds on by three bolts. You can remove the piece, then put the bolts back on to hold the plastic shield back in place. I don't see how this little piece does anything, but my LS is black so don't see it.

You must look under your car all the time...

 

I fail to see how a part would be specifically designed and installed that "Doesn't serve much purpose" Im sure the guy in post #4 is correct, they are wind deflectors for the tires. I would leave them.

 

Wow though I was the king of automotive OCD. I never even noticed these things on my car. Lexus supposedly spent 400 hours doing extensive wind tunnel testing on the LS430 to get wind noise and the coefficient of drag (cod) as low as possible. I'd leave it, its likely there for a reason.

 

Damn, those are ugly. Well if you don't want to remove and risk raising the cd to that akin to an Edsel maybe you can just spray can them flat black to make them less noticeable.

If ya do get rid of them maybe you can send 'em my way. May help me stop getting a hybrid when gas passes $5/gallon.

 

Lower it 3" and they will be less obvious. Some nice 19-20's will also divert attention away. Body kit next step. Congrats on the new ride

 

LOL, I have it parked in the driveway and when I walk out of the garage they just stick out really bad.

I think I will try to paint them flat black and see if it makes them less noticeable. They are already white and I think that is why they are showing so much. They do have them on the rear of the car as well, but you do not even notice them.

Maybe a nice front kit would hide them too.

Not too sure what I'm going to do to the car mod wise as of yet. I need to get it detailed first and get a couple tiny dings repaired.

Ill mess around with it this week and post a follow up.

 

that piece it is suppose to be black. that is what happens when the bodyshop is lazy and paint it without removal of the bumper. plus it is suppose to be straight and not ruffles like that. may be previous accident and they never bother to change it to keep the cost down.

 

Carfax shows no accidents, plus it's all original paint. I checked all the seams and it does not appear that it has been painted.

 

the foglight doesn't even look like it is line up well...see the winkle on the bumper at the end of the fogs? i guess go look at other people's ls430...i don't see why that piece will turn "whiteish" on its own if you believe that is original paint.

Well this makes me feel pretty bad right now. I thought I was buying a car that was never in an accident. How did this repair get done and not make it on the carfax?

I think it had a minor bumper repair. I checked the hood and it is original paint. So hopefully this was just a front bumper repair. The fog light does have cut in it.
