Thanks Jim ... useful info and I will switch off my mirrors "auto retract" feature. If I have Lexus reprogram the steering column will it still groan when I manually operate it? Thanx

Why save them for the next person? Just use them until they wear out and get the usage out of them and then disable them.

mine still works good at 160 000 miles, in out every time the car has ever been started. It may have to do with hanging onto the wheel as its retracting as you exit. or else im lucky.
