02 LS430 UL 65,000 miles

Went to the dealer for a navigation update. They told me to purchase the DVD at the parts counter and return to the service bay where they would do the installation, which is what I did. The service manager got behind the wheel and the service tech opened the trunk and went to the DVD unit on the right side under the mat. I was standing next to him as he tried several times to eject the old DVD and nothing happened. He even ask me if there was in fact a DVD in the unit, and I told him yes. The service manager had the ignigtion on and kept getting an error mesage. After several tries, the parking sensors (on the rear) were turned off and guess what...the player ejected the old DVD, and the installtion was completed. I never did get a full explanation, but apparently us standing behind and in line of the sensors was responsible for triggering an error message.
This might help some DIYer's.

 

the switch has to be in acc to do the install.when in acc the sencers are not on.but good info just the same.
