Drive with your VSC off It pulls harder when you have to get on it.

NOS canister.

But you have to wonder why you would want to do this to a 5000 lb sofa on wheels. Not really cut out for speed. Maybe you bought the wrong car.

PPE headers provide some extra go. I think they dyno tested a set and it made roughly 20hp more then the stock manifolds.

Or you could look into this

Because, the same reason why Mercedes has AMG for it flag ship S class, BMW has the M series and Audi has the S Series. Lexus is the only one that doesn't offer high performance in its flag ship line LS, only in the IS which is a suped up corola

Just for clarification this isn't remotely true. IS is RWD, Corolla is FWD. Totally different platform and I doubt they share any parts whatsoever.

As to Lexus performance, no they're not a performance maker in general. There is the LF-A but I can't imagine we'll be seeing many of those on the road.

i've always christian pondered this one myself as well, why not a performance version of the LS or GS but i guess we may one day see a GS-F so at least part of my dreams might come true and i'll have to switch my allegiance back to the gs lineup if that happens ever does come to fruition

Indeed....

Maybe a roof mounted JATO would supply sufficient thrust to get the world's heaviest rolling couch to a low 13sec quarter mile time? The airborne pickup truck urban myth has unfortunately been debunked.

I don't think JATO rockets are available at your local auto one...

In all seriousness,I asked the same question a couple of months ago,and got similar replies, mostly along the lines of 'why bother?', 'you bought the wrong car.' and 'go buy a mustang'.

My suggestion is headers, high flow cats, and a good quality dual cat-back exhaust. Try an Injen or other branded intake, but I doubt that will make a lot of difference, the std airbox is pretty big,and well fed.
A proper free-flowing exhaust should net a nice gain on this car. My old UCF11 went up by 30kw atw with a cat-back swap to dual 2.5". The fuel mixtures were pretty average,so with a re-tune and new cats it likely would have gone up by another 5kw or so.
A similarly-sized cat-back,with a re-tune if necessary,PPE headers,and new metal cats should net you a better improvement again on the 430.

If you have deep pockets, there is the Tom's option - bolt on supercharger kit.
Blitz and Trust both make a kit for the LS as well.
Bullet supercars here in Australia also do work on the 4L 1UZ,and when I approached them about possibly doing a kit for the 3UZ they were interested.

I also suggest that you take a serious look at the suspension and brakes, even before you touch the engine. Coilovers with sensible spring rates (around 8kg/mm or so),some SARD or Tom's swaybars and a good alignment will sort the suspension.
Brakes, there are myriad options. Cheapest is a BBK with offset brackets and 355mm discs,Most expensive would be Endless 8 piston callipers and discs.

The sky's the limit, the only restraint is how much you're willing to spend. There's no reason why a large sedan can't be comfortable,AND have performance. As much as I bag on my locally-built cars, they cater very well to the older enthusiast who wants a bit of go with his plushy interior.

so here is my official stance on the above. i had a gs400 before and did the high flow intake, cats, full cat back big pipes exhaust, piggyback ecu re-tune fuel mapping, and almost did headers but the somewhat luxurious car quickly became all fast and the furious style after doing just the intake cats and exhaust that i decided not to do the headers for fear that it would get even more obnoxiously loud for just a little gain in hp some of the time.

on a different note i love the s65 amg so bad that i'm about to go donate enough plasma until i can afford a used 3yr lease turn in version (presently around 70-75 (for a nice one) or to settle for the s600 for around 55-60 for a nice low mileage one. this is my next dream car (just like the ls430 was my previous dream car ((reasonable dream car that is)). i saw an awesome s65 drive by me at this shopping center the other day and it rumbled like an old american muscle car and who ever was driving it was feathering the throttle just on the verge of annoyingly showing it off as it was cruising by us, then i saw that it was an older man like in his 60's or so i figured this is just what the car sounds like all the time.

so if this is in fact my next car, the s600 or the s65 amg then i wonder how loud these cars are on the inside??? if they are pretty loud, then i should stop being so discriminating towards wanting to do headers, exhaust, intake, and cats on an ls430...

anyone know how loud the s65 is on the inside of the cabin???

OT, but what wheels are those? It sorta looks like your wheels are booted for unpaid parking tickets.

Not sure which company your talking about but if your referring to PPE you can read about the headers here

My solution to the noise issue: http://www.xforce.com.au/about-varex...ts-muffler.php

Headers won't make the car any louder, that's determined by the piping diameter and the style, position and style of mufflers you choose.
Headers are a part of the setup on this car that warrant serious attention as their design is pretty compromised. As said before, those alone made 20 more hp. you can't tell me that's a waste of time...

I did say that I didn't see much point in doing the intake, the std design is quite good, and with a pod on the end of it,you'll both get hotter air from the engine bay getting sucked in,and a lot more induction noise.

It's interesting that you got over the noise of your own car,but love the sound of passing mercs...
