Default Supercharger like whining sound(now with video!)

When given some beans, and the RPM's go above 3k you hear a Supercharger type whine coming from the front.

What could cause this? I googled and someone said it might be a pully or something, I am not sure.

Edit: it happens at above 3k RPM even in Neutral. Car is at 80k

Update: Video added

It definitely sounds like a pulley + per your mileage you are due for a cambelt change soon, so I wouldn’t wait that long if I was to hear that sound...

^ Car is going this weekend for an oil change so will bring this up.

By cam belt you are talking about the timing belt right?

Are you sure you don't have one of the rare 05 Super Sport editions with the factory supercharger?

Hopefully just the serpentine belt or tensioner pulley. I've heard this before from a bad alternator bearing when it was in its early stages of having problems though.

Correct - the SS version had just the bump in the hood. The Super Sport Ninja version had the big honking hood scoop, taller rear tires, 3/4 race cam, and ceramic coated headers with LOUD sidepipes. My wife put her foot down on that one because of the lumpy cam at idle and fear that she'd burn her leg on the sidepipes.

(Sorry, can you tell I used to live in the vette world? Imagine if the LS430 was made in the late 60s and early 70s as a muscle car...)

I really wish our 4.3 V8s had more of a rumble to them. I get out when I warm the car up and it's quieter than the 4cyl in my mom's prius lol.

You should hear mine .

Not a Monte Carlo by any means, but it's very subtle and deep.

Well, My dad went today and they changed the oil then they said they "could not replicate", oh man how many times do we hear that eh?

Finally got my camera, here is a short video I made. Play in 720p so you can hear it at its best audio quality.

Cam Belt = Timing belt

Now, the noise would not come from the belt itself but from one of the pulleys or maybe even the water pump (although I doubt it is the water pump)...

If you want to change the whole timing belt kit, then it is the belt + all pulleys + tensioner + water pump...
