Default BUG !!!!! What the......

This morning when I went to get gas, I found this INSIDE the headlight assembly. It is irking me. Is this going to be a 5 hour job just to get rid of it?
How did it get in there to begin with? Besides the holes for the lights, I thought they're enclosed.

That sucks! You're going to have to heat it up and pry the housing apart to get it out

I thought I was unlucky when I found a perfectly preserved fly inside the back light assembly on the side that wraps around the rear fender. I have absolutely no idea of how to get it out as it appears to be in a sealed area. I too would love to get information on removing it as everyone seems to comment on it.

you might try to use an air compressor and spray around the outside and inside to determine where the bug gained access. It might also dislodge 'em and put him in a less noticeable spot.

can you pass a rubber tube in there thru the light bulb opening? Attach a reducer onto a shop vac and then attach a rubber tube to it. Feed tube end it into the headlight housing and fish around a little, it should pull the bug out.

Good call. Take the housing out and try and blow it out.

There was a guy in the LS400 forum that bought a car with a bug in one of the Radio Displays. Pretty interesting indeed.

The simplicity and elegance of Jab's solution to the "headlight bug" issue shows why old guys rock.

If the seal on the front had failed sufficiently for a critter of that size to get through COMPLETELY IN-TACT, then you would most certainly have a fogged up headlamp from condensation (and another reason NOT to open the headlight with heat). He has to have come in from the rear, likely during the evening after being attracted to the light, then crawling all the way in and around the back of the headlamp assembly.

Bug in the radio display would happen similarly... Bug detects heat source in the radio, crawls in through the ventilation holes or some minute opening, then crawls around til he sees the display light and makes his way in there. I do not believe the LCD is adhered to the front covering completely (i.e. iphone 4) so this is not impossible. Either that or someone removed and reapplied the plastic cover at some point.

Yeah. This seems to be an issue with all sorts of Lexus makes.

I have a spider of some sort in one of my foglights in an '01 ES300.

My dad's RX330, has a little fly inside the pass. headlight & one in the taillight assembly! lol
