Have you hit the "power" (i) button while the car is on? 
I would think once the car is on, hitting the power button would then turn the unit on, then you hit the "AM-SAT" button and the satellite function would come on. You'll need XM service of course, don't know if you have that in Dubai. You'll need to link the frequency with service, which in itself might be a big of issue if you don't have the manual. Does the unit itself on back have a sticker with frequency?
