So I sold my 04 Lexus... Why? Because I wanted something sportier. I got a cadillac cts-v. It's an awesome car but I always find myself wanting my Lexus again. I feel as though I made a mistake. There is no better car than an LS. I want another LS now, but I don't want to spend as much money this time. I am thinking of getting an 01-03 model but there are some thing about my 04 that I especially loved that I want to make sure are present in 01-03's. Can you guys give me yes/no/explanations for the following features.

-Oscillating a/c vents
-Smart key with door handle sensors
-Bluetooth
-Reverse cam

Also if there are any other changes other than the obvious ones (transmission, afs, LED tails etc.) please feel free to chime in.

 

Several comparison threads out there (linked a couple). I don't think the smart key or bluetooth were available until 2004, but not 100%. Not sure on the other two you listed.

In 01-03 UL,you won't have ventilated rear seats,only heated rear seats are available.

 

Hmm, I have 2001 LS430 and I have a smart key (walk to my car with key/dongle in my backpack, touch the door handle and the car unlock's, go in the car and just turn the *** to start it as long as the key/dongle is inside the car...)...
Than I have oscilating vents as well...

No bluetooth, no rev. cam....

 

You have a non US version so the features and packages are different in other regions when both models were introduced.

 

for '01-'03 :

-Oscillating a/c vents - YES
-Smart key with door handle sensors - YES (pretty sure)
-Bluetooth - NO
-Reverse cam - NO

 

The reverse camera w/ bluetooth come w/ the gen-4 nav, which debuted in 2004. So you need a 2004-06.

 

Actually, smart key system was not introduced in the US until the 2004 model year. Other markets received them as early as 2000.

 

there is a hole in the trunk for a cam in my LS, but my nav is gen 1

and Oscillating a/c vents, only driver side one moves i dono if thats how it should be

 

On my 05, the passenger side vent moves only when there is a passenger present.

 

The vent moves even if no passenger. The passenger side is probably set at a temp that matches the temp on that side. The vents do not oscillate all day long, once the temp is reach in either zone, the vents stop.

So, if you adjust the temp around and the vents don't move.. it's busted.
