Hi All -

Was wondering if any of you have had your windshield wipers make a false sweep for no apparent reason? I've had my '02 for a short time now and twice this has happened, both times on a clear evening - once when making a left turn and another time when lowering the a/c level on the navi screen.

Did a search and found the following thread (on windshield replacement) which mentions several others with the same occurrence:

my 2001 did it occasionally. It seemed to happen only when it got hot outside. I was tired of it happening, so i turned off the auto rain sensing wiper. BTW, i had the original windshield.

My 2005 has not done it yet. But i think it have that set to OFF as well

 

My 04 ul does it sometimes..very rare..

 

You can try by lowering the sensitivity of the sensor by dialing down the frequency control of the intermittent wipers. There are four settings if im not mistaken.
