Default is it factory option? pic inside

I have seen a few LS with this thing on the leave side. Some with radio, some only has the "holder".

I think it is a satellite radio but not sure. xm? sirius?
is it a factory option?

That is def not a factory option, I would say after market install and not a clean one either.

^^ yep definetly not a factory option. Judging by the color of wood on that LS, which auto maker offered satellite radio as an option in 01-03?

I saw that metal bracket in pics of a car for sale and wondered what it was for. Mystery solved. Thanks!

Brackets like that were also commonly used for cell phone charging cradles but not much anymore. The charging cradle in my wife's Camry for her ancient phone was mounted on a similar cradle back when AT&T/Cingular installed handsfree kits in cars -- see attached photo.

That thing is gigantic. I think it would be pretty easy to remove. Just pull the trim panel and unscrew the bracket.

the wood is call
" ECRU BIRD'S-EYE MAPLE" only available under UL from 01-03

http://www.toyotareference.com/

I like the color combo too.

As I mentioned, I have seen 3 LS has that "radio" option. Sounds like you all agreed it is an after market option. I am guess the mounting is probably from XM radio

thanks

I test drove that car the other day. It's UL trim but didn't drive as well as the '02 that I bought, which doesn't have air suspension or 17" wheels. Carfax lists it as a "corporate" car, which means either a single person leased it as a corporate expense, or it was a company loaner. I'm leaning towards the latter. As far as interior/exterior condition, it seemed flawless.

Looks just like an aftermarket bracket.

I believe the Ecru Bird's Eye Maple was also offered on some LS460 and LS600hL models.

I watched various US and Canada classifieds from 2006-2009 to find an LS430 with that Ecru Bird's Eye Maple with the Ultra Luxury package with an exterior color I wanted (black, dark blue, or silver). I was prepared to fly anywhere in North America to pick one up - that's how much I wanted that grey wood color.

I found one 12 months ago, 500kms away from home, Blue Onyx Pearl exterior. Flew there and drove it home in a massive snowstorm. It was a fine first car for me and I thoroughly enjoy driving it every time I'm out.

I didn't know what the official name of that wood color was until reading this thread. Thanks for the info!

Default ProFit

I think it must be one of the older ProFit or similar mounts. I put one of the newer mounts in my LS430 to hold my Garmin Nuvi. When the Nav is removed the only part visible is the small "ball".

Here is a comparison from their website between old and new.

There is also a set of instructions on installation and removal on their website.
