Default Annoying headrest

Can anyone tell me why does my driver's side headrest (05 LS430) move upward everytime i adjust the seat bottom or seat back rearwards? This is very irritating . Can it be set not to do this or is this a feature thats built-in for some type of accommodation for taller people. I am 6' and don't need that much of headrest height although my head is large LOL.

I do not think it's possible to over-ride it. Each time I adjust the seat, I catch the headrest before it moves.

It's a safety thing for the tall people.

If your head is higher than the top of the headrest, that can act like a pivot when you get into a rear-ender and can cause major whiplash injuries

If you're the primary driver, why not set your seating position for Memory 1?

imagine here:

I often change my fore and aft seat position while I am driving. I want an override setting or some other solution to stop the headrest from moving up when I make a change to seat position. I am only 5'7" and I drive with the seat pretty far back most of the time. The headrest annoyingly moves way up when I adjust the seat bottom fore and aft position. The headrest being so high actually makes it more dangerous for someone my height.

Is this another example of a Toyota enforced "feature" like the crappy Nav system "feature" that prevents changes while driving (even if you have a passenger available to make the change) that is poorly conceived and cannot be changed?

I do have my memorized seating set but sometimes i may want to move back or forward a lil without having the headrest shoot all the way up to the max. If it just adjusted a small amount i would be satisfied but the damn thing nearly touches the ceiling. THis is the only quirk that i have so far with the otherwise perfect automobile. Think i'm gonna have to start a quest to find out if this can overidden.

ALL LEXUS DRIVERS WITH LARGE HEADS LETS MOBILIZE! THIS MUST BE STOPPED!

I thought that was just a quirk with my car. I did not realize they would auto program it to raise just because you move the seat back.

Believe it's another enforced feature in the name of safety

This doesn't make sense for the headrest to automatically go up when the seat is moved back while driving. Does Toyota think that when I am driving at 60 mph and I move the seat back an inch that my body has suddenly grown 2-3 inches taller? And when I move the seat forward an inch just 5 minutes later why doesn't the headrest go down? With Toyota's reasoning if I move my seat forward while driving then it must be because my body has shrunk in height a few inches so the headrest should be lowered to maintain "safety" - - I hate stupidity...it is exhausting.

Hey guys I may try and isolate the headrest movement from the seat ecu. I'm pretty decent at electronics and may give it a try. If i can get the headrest moving portion of that switch isolated to just work the headrest motor it just might work. I'll let you know what happens. .
