Default LS430 transmission fluid type, quantity?

I want to change the transmission fluid on my 2001 LS430. I have searched this forum but couldn't seem to find a definite answer.

Could someone please let me know

1. The type of transmission
2. The type of transmission fluid
3. The quantity of fluid I should be buying
4. Where to buy transmission pan gasket (I bought the filter a while ago)

My friend works at Toyota dealership and although he thought the Toyota transmission fluid would work on Lexus, I have my doubts.

Thank you very much in advance.

It should say in the owners manual. Since the late 90's Toyotas/Lexus used dextron II and the early 2000's used T-IV, I can harbor a guess and say it'll either be type T-IV or dextron II (it is definitely NOT WS). My '03 LX uses type T-IV, but in '04, Lexus/Toyota went to WS.

This is what I know:

1. The type of transmission - 5 speed automatic, not the sealed WS (World Standard) that the '04-'06 6-speed automatic transmission that the LS430 has.

2. The type of transmission fluid - Type IV by Toyota. Just FYI, all Lexus parts are really Toyota part equivalents. Besides the glass which actually has Lexus etched because we can see it, internal parts are almost all etched with Toyota.

3. The quantity of fluid I should be buying - not sure, so won't say.

4. Where to buy transmission pan gasket (I bought the filter a while ago), since your friend with Toyota, I would get through him and get OEM.

if you just drain and fill, you need 3 quarts.
Flush the whole system? Do it in Toyota dealer.

Just had a trans fluid changed at a Toyota dealer. They said it took 13 qts to drain, flush, and refill.
Fluid type is World Standard.
I heard it's a pain in the butt to change the fluid in 04-06 with the 6 spd trans.

Is this the 5 speed or the 6 speed?

On some older Lexus, even the glass are etched Toyota. Our 98' ES was that way.
