Thanks LS430inDE for going to all that effort. Yes it does look like there is a considerable more amount of detail in the 8.1 version.

 

Not a problem. It's my pleasure to help. Sorry for the fuzzy pics by the way. I never made it to my g/f's house so I didn't use a good digital camera. Had to use my cellphone again. I think you could best compare the 2 by printing each picture then holding them up side by side..instead of scolling up..then down..then up..then down..then up..then down....like I was doing to compare them..lol.

Really, the override for me is over-rated, but I do use it once in a while. I can live without it. I will probably upgrade to 8.1, in about 3 years when it's cheaped than the $300 now. I'm not one to upgrade annually as they don't change much in terms of roads every year. It's just mostly added POI than anything else.

 

On the Lexus site under the 'owners' section there is a 'online' version of the navigation system that you can use to see if your address is in the new version.

It is supposed to be a 'simulated version of what is available on our nav with 8.1.

 

thanks for link but page doesn't do anything, i tried mozilla (firefox) and IE and neither browser loads anything from that page. if you click on the link or paste into browser does it do anything??

so it displayed my neighborhood just fine, that means that if i upgrade to 8.1 it will look like this for my neighborhood??

 

Yes that is supposed to be the case. I checked with Lexus support this am, and they gave me the corporate line 'to verify with your dealer' yada yada
but it should be accurate.
