If I really felt like the customer is jerking me around / tire kicker / squirrel, I say go by yo self also... don't waste any more of my time.

Perhaps, or maybe his success is due to the fact that he doesn't try to apply his Dale Carnige dealer training course to every customer alike. Perhaps he can recognize who needs to be treated like a gullible mark, and who is going to judge a car for themselves and buy what they themselves decide they like and want. Since I fit in the latter group, the salesman needs to stay the hell out of my way and not try to pump me full of his BS pitch 'cause after about 20 years in the sales and marketing business I've seen and heard it all. This guy is sharp enough to know that, hence he's sold me 3 cars and I always check out what he has on the lot whenever I'm looking around.

Interesting purchasing story (at least to me). Wife wanted to upgrade Her 97 ES 300 to LS 430 so I went to closest dealer and wanted to order car to her specs (Parchment color, 17" wheels/tires, ML and Nav and NO Lexus Link. Closest dealer wanted to sell me Burgandy LS in stock-showed no interest in "custom" order. Went to next closest dealer and they were most accomodating. Placed order for LS to Her specs-approximately 3 months build/delivery time-no problem. Car arrives and I'm out of town-Wife calls and I tell her to go pick it up. She calls a couple days later and says car is great but it's not Parchment-It's White! I get home and call dealer to see if maybe we had taken delivery of wrong car/wifes car went somewhere else. Not so, apparently dealer/Lexus had screwed up "custom" order. Dealer most accomodating on what would make me happy and we agreed on an additional $1500 off negotiated purchase price-ended up about 6K below MSRP. Happy campers and I think the White actually looks better than the Parchment. Kinda glad it turned out the way it did. She really doesn't use it much (2002 w/35,000 miles) but it has been absolutely flawless.
