Default Window Detailing Question

At the inside top of all 4 side windows is a black 1 1/2" composite seal (for lack of a better term) which helps keep the windows sealed when they are raised. Each time I detail this area, this "seal" is somewhat rough rather than smooth as it is after I've "dressed" it. I suspect is could become a source of wind noise in the future. How do any of y'all clean and/or dress or treat this area??

Thanks.

after i had my windows tinted, i feel that my front 2 windows are only closing about 99% of the way now due to this thing you are talking about, and i feel that it has greatly increased the wind noise... this is pretty annoying to me and i am now debating other options for the front 2 windows... any suggestions or others with this issue??

Default not the weather stripping

No, not the weatherstripping on the upper door against the door frame; we're talking about the area below the top of the door frame at the top of the window on the inside of the window. I suppose it is a weatherstripping for the upper part of the window, but it is below the channel where the windoe fits into the door when the window is up.
I've posted this same problem on Autopia and the Lexus Owners Club. I'll post a copy of the solution if I get one.

if you roll down your front window (either one) about half way, you will notice a slight smudge mark about an inch to 1.5 inches thick across the top of the window (glass part). when that rolls all the way up the thick plastic piece that it disappears into at the top of the window frame is what i am pretty sure he is talking about.

i used this graphite non metallic tint stuff that i was told is the best way to go on a car with nav... a shop did the tint btw and they are supposed to be the biggest and baddest in the area near my work.

If you run down any of the 4 windows 1 -1 1/2 inches and poke your finger straight through that opening (parallel to the ground, you will touch a black 1 1/2 " piece of trim which extends across the top of the window opening inside of the window and appears to be a part of the weatherstripping for the window. That's what I'm referring to.

Ah, okay. I would say treat it like any "rubber" and use the armorall rubber and vinyl dash or tire treatment. I've used that once in a while on my other vehicles and they've never cracked or anything and rubber remains fine. Doesn't stay on very long because it's on the outside, but just put on more often is all....

I've been using Z-16 (Zaino's vinyl and tire preservative). I had just hoped someone out there had used something that lasted longer and kept that area smooth.

Armor-all tire and rubber for tires? I wasn't talking about the "generic" armorall for dashes to give that sparkling clean shine...

I've used on my Integra for over ten years now and haven't had issues with it cracking or anything. Maybe some others here can vouch either way? Don't want my good luck with the Integra to then ruin my LS...
