Question A/C Problem

Lately I have been noticing my a/c hasn't been blowing cold. I figured it was low on freon so took it up to a repair place and they found that it was a 1/2 pound low on freon but said that wasn't the main problem. They said that the computer was not telling the compressor to kick on and that I would have to take it to the dealership. Before I take it there, I was going to see if anyone else had this problem before. The repair shop found a few codes:

51 - solenoid of ext circuit
24 - drivers side solar circuit
23 - pressure switch circuit (Thought that might have been because of low freon)
28 - rear solar circuit
21 - pass side solar circuit

Has anyone experienced anything like this or know a simple way to fix it? The repair shop thought that I might have to replace the whole head unit, which I hope is not the case.

I don't remember which, but i know there are certain errors you will encounter when you dont perform the test in the sun (car thinks the sensor is bad). There are a series of sensors that detect where the sun is coming from to compensate the cooling temperature.

This could explain all the solar circuit issues. Do you still have issues after filling up freon?

Hard to tell. It was blowing cold air, but it is cold outside. I guess I will have to wait until it is a hot day to tell.

This weekend was hot enough were I needed the air conditioner. I turned the temp down to cold but felt no difference when pressing the A/C button. It turns green but does not get colder. I guess, like the repair shop said, the head unit/computer is not telling the compressor to kick on. Also, my GPS has been messing up. It tells me I am driving the wrong direction and is no where near the location I am driving. The two things might have something to do with each other. Could there be a plug loose? Anyone have any ideas?

probably a silly thought, but when in the AC screen (if you have nav) you do have the a/c button selected correct? If this isn't on, it will just blow regular air through the system.

It doesn't matter if the A/C button is pressed (green) or not. It just blows the same temperature air.

Also, my GPS is working again. I guess it doesn't have anything to do with the A/C problem. We have been having cloudy rainy, weather lately, so that might explain that.

Finally ended up taking the car to the dealer. Found out it was a faulty high pressure switch. The switch was telling the CPU that there was too much pressure and was not turning on the A/C as a safety precaution. $530 later () and I am back blowing cold air.
