Default FM reception M.L stereo

The FM reception in my LS430 sucks. I live in the country 30 to 60 miles from the cities with rdio stations. The sound quality is very poor on any FM station. Has anybody tried changing the antenna? I beleive it is in the rear windshield and I think this is the biggest problem

i had a 99 gs400 previously which had 2% tint all the way around and the fm reception was atrocious. my new(er) 05 UL has a freakin' mazing reception (fm) compared. i only have like a 14% graphite tint on the ls though. maybe tint could be the issue???

Metallic tint would definitely hurt your FM reception. I have FormulaOne's Pinnacle Series tint (ceramic-based). It is made to work with vehicle electronics and radio signals.

Make sure AF is turned off in your audio menu.

There is a button on the audio screen that says AF. Make sure it is not green.

Not sure what it does but when pushed, it would make certain stations cut out.

AF (Alternative Frequency) function: When the RDS is
turned on, a station providing good reception is
automatically selected if current reception worsens.

For 2002 LS430 UL: Switch your system to radio mode. There is a physical button on the right side of the touchscreen screen marked Audio. Press that, and then the screen will change to show various audio details. The AF button is on the touchscreen at the lower right. If AF is on, the button will be lit up already.
