ouch (bad Catalytic converter)
So the engine symbol ended up being a bad Catalytic converter. How much for one of these? It will be interesting to see if the dealer buys me a new one.

Double ouch
I live in Canada. I'll bet it's over $1,000.00 CND. Add that to two trunk struts a tail light, a trnny service plus a mirror motor. Who want's to go pick up my car for me?

challenger
Okay, unless you're completely mechanically challenged, the trunk struts are $80 off E-bay and the taillights are regular bulbs that pop out and put in new for $5 tops. Please don't go to dealer and get hit for the OEM struts and "lights" for about $250.

Bad cat is very rare. Usually the O2 (AFR) sensor that goes first and will trigger P113X or P115X error code. Also, during winter, when the cat or O2 (AFR) sensor does not properly warm up, you could see this malfunction code. Make sure the dealer did not take you for a ride on this. Always ask for the error code. Or just spend $50 on one of the OBDII reader and you could read and reset the error code yourself.

And if they replace the cat, ask to keep the old part that they remove and a box of the new part they just install.
