Another subwoofer question
I decided that something has to change with the sub. I am going to buy a sub and box and mount them in the trunk. The problem is that I have an UL but the audio guy I spoke to says that removing the oem sub will still create enough of a port for the bass to sound good.
1) Has anyone with a UL put a sub in the trunk? How does it sound?
2) I am thinking about only going with a 10", so which setup do you think will sound best? My last sub was a Kicker Comp VR and it sounded great so I am leaning that way or at least with Kicker.

when my bass is really turned up playing a song with alot of bass my front license plate shakes along with every other part of the car, the trunk looks like its gonna fly open... the roof literally jumps up and down all over the place...
You need to dynamat your car and you should be okay.

i am selling my gs400 this weekend and in that i had taken out the stock 10 out of the rear deck and put in a jl12w6 in a smal sealed box with a 500.1 jl amp all running off of the factory nakamichi head unit and all factory speakers... it sounded 9000 times better than stock. i put it back to stock and after i pick up this ls430 hopefully on monday i will be doing the same to the ls. I hope it sounds as good in the ls as it did in the gs.

this car audio shop out this way claims that i can get much more bang for a little extra buck by having them make a custom ported (possibly slot ported) box made for that speaker (jl12w6) and fitting the shape of the back portion of the ls trunk.
