What da ya mean by hardwired? Please explain. I hate the 9500ix sitting in my windshield, kids think i am a police dodger and I am always shoving it in the armrest hatch door to hide it!! I dislike the chord hanging down.

IMO, after using several different detectors, there is only ONE reason that anyone believes that there is a better detector for *actual use* than a V1: they do not understand how to utilize the *combination of information* that the V1 provides. I'd had various other high-rated detectors for about 25 years, and tried several others in family and friends cars. My wife gave me a V1 for my birthday about 8 years ago and within about 100 miles of use I realized that there was nothing else in its league. Period. It's the *combination* of information that allows you to drive faster, safer, more of the time than any other detector. IMO, if you see a test that ranks another detector higher than the V1, they either don't know how to use the V1, or they are only ranking the results on the extreme distance at which the detector can pick up a signal, this latter being a very bad criterion for ranking the performance of a detector

Okay, I stand corrected, and now I also understand that GM and Ford are way better than Toyota because they've been around much longer.

FYI, Cincinnati Microwave went belly-up in 1997, though it was founded by Mike Valentine and his father back in the day. Valentine sold his stock in '84 I think it was, then went on to build something way better.

I bought the Valentine 1 when I first got my IS 300 back in summer of 2003. When my IS died in the spring of 2004, I kept using it with my 2004 Honda Accord. In Fall of 2007, I sent it in for an upgrade - which I didn't really need, I more so wanted to make sure everything was working ok with it plus it was acting up - due to the power cord though. Still using it now on my Accord and hope to use it on an IS again soon.

That being said, the Escort Passport 9500ix GPS-Enabled Radar/Laser Detector (plus freebies) is $409.99 Shipped on Amazon in case anyone's interested.

I6turbo, can you describe the "sensor fusion" of the V1 more, please? I'm intrigued.

Thanks,
David

Your assuming companies that are sold are doomed is wrong, as my assuming all companies that are around a while are sound. I will give ya that.

Have you ever used the 9500I, again? The ability to cut out fase alerts that crop up again and again at certain places, I am sure you know what I mean, is invaluable to me. I am hopeful Valentine one will develop a GPS detector soon. You can then upgrade the unit you have. My understanding Cobra boasts this new technology also.

I am sure you know what you are talking about, but I do not know your credibility as much as speedzones.com. This 2008 2009 study rated your unit no better than the 9500, in the short distance test it rated second to 9500( it states police are taught to get a visual on the car and take two readings, they refer to a 1/4 mile distance).

Are you as strong and opinionated about everyhting? Is your detector you refer to 8 years old and you just keep getting upgrades?

I see there is a hardwire kit from Passport to sneak around the window molding so I do not have a coiled cord over my oscillating vents. thanks

Nothing beats the Valentine One in radar and laser detection in the under $500 radar detector category.

The Escort 9500's TrueLock feature is flawed and it could result in you receving a ticket because your Escort 9500i remained silent as a cop shot you with radar.
