I just would rather fix the problem myself if possible before I think about taking it to the dealer. I will check the ECU/plugs tomorrow but I did check the button and it works just fine.
I remember reading this thread, so I went searching for it. My button stopped working too, lol. It was working fine last I remembered about a month ago. I rarely use the trunk. Will open up the trunk trimmings later and do the copper trick.
I jumped the two pins in the plug and nothing happened. I guess whatever ECU people is talking about may be the problem. The "release" level inside the trunk still works though, not sure if it's tied in any way.
Guess I'll take it into service sometime this week while I'm still under extended warranty.
My external button doesn't work. The key and interior trunk latch work fine. I still haven't figured this one out... I'm also tending to think it's the computer, and if it is, that's pretty sad. What else does this computer control? Is it possible that the smart system is somehow not letting me open the trunk that way?
Just wanted to update since I got the problem fixed. For my particular situation, it was the trunk switch. I don't know how much it cost since it was covered under warranty.
