Forums are soemwhat of a mystery to me they seem to have there own special codes and rules but here goes anyway. I own a 2004 Lexus LS430 Ultra and absolutely love it, it is the first time I can honestly say that I don't think there is another vehicle out there than can surpass it for refinement and comfort. My model was introduced jsut before Lexus added the back up camera, is there any way of adding this feature to my DVD navigation screen. My wife recently purchased the RX330 which has the camera and I find this to be quite a useful addition. I am also looking for an installer of Vais products in Florida as I would love to incorporate my Zune into the audio system. Or would I be better off ditching the Zune for an Ipod which is more universally acceptable. Love the forum it has been very enlightening.

As far as I know, there is no way to integrate a camera to the NAV system on earlier LS430's

From what I understood i think he said he has a 2004 model but the earlier one before they came out with the back up camera

correct me if im wrong

but either why im not sure if you can get a back up camera installed
i think its the nav unit in your car that youd have to get replaced because it deosnt support back up camera

again not 100% on that im just throwing it out there

I have a 2004 and do have a factory standard nav-integrated back-up camera. I didn't know they made 2004s without them.

You can certainly get back-up cameras after market, but I dont think there is one I've seen that integrates into the Nav.

For what it's worth, I find the backup camera is pointless. I rarely use it. Windows and the backup sensors are plenty for me.

Appreciate the feedback, I think my LS430 Ultra was released just before the Camera was added to the nav pak. I am getting a little older these days so maybe a backup camera is more useful, I nearly got creamed recently in a parking lot by a truck approaching obliquely. I do have the sensors which help locating my dogs or persons etc around the car. But thanx again.

if you do end up getting a camera, watch it. it's not a fisheye lens and I almost got creamed in a parking lot using it. I'd become so comfortable with it that I began using it instead of looking behind me

I still look around when backing up. Only use the camera when going straight back so I make sure I don't hit a pole ot something.

... actually, it wasn't a near-accident.... yes, I confess, my bumper was swiped... after some hard core buffing, no damage.

Default Welcome!

Welcome to CL, if you're serious about your Lexus.... read all the posts that interests you. Use the "Search" tool on the top right of the screen to find a subject you're interested in. Read the sticky notes on each page and they will guide you through the wealth of information. If you still can't find it, post the question. I'm relatively new at Lexus ownership myself and I've learned alot from this site! They guys and gals are great here.... Good luck finding answers about the camera.
