Default New tires, new brakes, still had a steering wheel shake!

I had a slight shake in my steering wheel around 58-60 MPH. I though holy crap here we go again (I had a loooong battle and could never resolve this problem in my 98 GS 300). I thought I got "Moogy-itis" as I just got new Michelin tires.

Anyway, recently I got 4 brand new Michelin Primacy MXV4's and an alignment & balance and a 4 wheel brake job (New pads all the way around and new front rotors).

Anyway, called around last night and found a shop that had the Hunter Road Force balancing machine - Paid about $65 bucks and the car is as smooth as silk now! Just thought I'd share!

I can't believe how much better the balance is from the RoadForce balance. It was off like 1.25/1.50 on each wheel! Not anymore!

For your 98 GS300, I had the same problem on my 2000 GS300. After re balancing many times, I found the problem to be the control arm busings. It needed to be changed and the shakes went away. I used the Daizen brand control arm bushing kit and found an installer to put them in which put me back about $500. Was a tough job and he needed a hydraulic press to install and remove. Just thought I let you know about the famous GS300 shakes. Hopefully the LS models don't get this problem and balancing will do the trick.

Yes, I had the Daizen bushing upgrade (I was one of the very early adopters to get this done actually - I posted about it here years ago). I also had the pretensior tightened. I could never completely get rid of the shake, but I'll tell you what - I never did get a roadforce balance on my GS300 - I wonder if that would've fixed it?

Last year, I had good (used) Michelins mounted on (used) 17's balanced at the local Goodyear. It took 2x to get the balance "pretty good". Last month, I had same tires/rims road force balanced at the local Les Schwab. There was too much run out on one tire. They spent an hour getting it right. Also rebalanced the other 3 tires w new weights. Cost was $98. Afterward, the drive was noticeably better. Tonight (2 weeks later and roughly 100 miles), the drive is now smooth and completely vibration free. Finally feels "LS smooth" like my 01. Definitely worth the money. Does it take time/miles to "break in" tires after road force balance?
