Exclamation Bouncy ride @ high speed - please help!!

Hello all! I just bought my first Lexus and am new to these awesome cars so I am here to ask for any guidance you can give.

I bought an '02 LS 430 with 90k in really good shape. I seem to feel like the car has abit of a bouncy ride @ highway speeds. More pronounced when I go over an uneven road surface...are the shocks the problem? Also can I use full synthetic oil on this ride? My next step is do do the timing belt, water pump etc....wanna start her fresh!

Last question...for now. The color I was told is called Midnight Pine, is this a rare or unusual color for an LS?

Thanks in advance for all your help!!

You might need to replace the shocks.

Welcome to CL.

At 90K the struts are most likely worn and need replacing. Lifespan varies with road conditions so I've heard of them going out as early as 40K and some at 150K. The ones in mine were dead at ~70K. How is the tire wear? Any uneven spots, cupping?

He might have the stock air suspension on his car. Take it to the dealer.

The wear is even, no cupping. Feels like I lose control of the steering if I go over a bump at high speeds other wise smooth as silk! How do I know if I have air suspension?

I have the same situation. I have browsed the ls400 and maintenance sections and the problem we are experiencing may be attributable to bad lower ball joints. Hope you find the fix.

If you have air suspension there should be a swith (hi/normal) below the cd player cover.
