Bluetooth success with LS430? Which Phone??
Hi,
I posted about a year and a half ago and got some really good info from this forum - much appreciated.
At that time I figured that I was going to have continual problems using verizon bluetooth phones with the car.
As of now I use a Cingular Sony Ericcson i600. I'm able to send all contacts at once..
I also have a Verizon Samsun i800 (or i810, i forget what they call it). I remember that Lexus doesnt support the Verizon phones with contacts being send, etc., not sure if it's still the same deal.
ANYWAYS, I pretty much bought the Sony Ericcson through Cingular JUST to use with the Lexus. I never take the phone out of the car, it sits in the center console with a charger plugged into the cigerette plug.
Problem is that it's intermittent...sometimes it will work, sometimes not.
I want a SOLID bluetooth phone to use with the car..I will buy any phone from any carrier...wondering what you guys are having success with??
Thanks a ton!

I've had solid success with my Nokia N70. You can buy an N73 if you want more features. All you have to do is buy one from eBay, and it will work with your cingular sim card.
Btw, the reason why Verizon phones dont work with the LS, is due to Verizon disabling thier bluetooth phones from sending data, so you can use thier service, and pay them instead of sending data for free.

My Motorola Razr worked fine before (nice and solid), now with my Blackberry 8100 Pearl, it works fine also. Some minor issues with the Pearl, when I'm received lots of incoming emails, it drops the BT connection and when its done downloading, it reconnects automatically again.

My Cingular Blackberry 8800 also works fine with the 2006 LS, but it would not transfer contacts (which appears common to all Blackberries). On the same Cingular contract I got my wife a 3125, which is a great phone, also works great with the LS and it will transfer individual contacts. I would note that you have to be careful on how you format the phone numbers in the phone (we have 10 digit required dialing here). The phone contact list lets you use the (area code) XXX-XXXX format and knows enough to dial a "1" in front. However, that format would not transfer to the 2006 LS successfully. Of course I can't for the life of me figure out why Lexus won't let you build and/or edit contacts via the nav screen.

Hey Thanks everyone for your input...
Yeah, I get the bluetooth & sending data thing..
Whats nice about the Sony Ericcson 600 is I can send all contacts at once jsut by going to 'Advanced' and 'Send all at once'.
But...that doesnt really matter for me if it works sometimes, and sometimes not.
I'm starting to figure out that NO phone COMPLETELY works with the Nav system consistently..meaning, no dropped calls, no contacts problems, etc.
I guess it's a car, not a computer.

So my Blackberry Curve 8320 pairs just fine with the car, however, as FLIPPU noted, it will not transfer the contacts. I would do anything to be able to play my music via bluetooth like in my previous Infiniti G37.

I'm running an iPhone 3GS. Works fine most of the time, though the iPhone freezes up sometimes. I blame it on the phone and not the car. It unfortunately doesn't transfer contacts over so I usually have no idea who's calling.
Keep in mind that this was one of the earlier Bluetooth systems put into a car. I know for a fact that the Bluetooth on newer BMWs with drive are superb as it downloads all contacts so it can be viewed on the screen.

Just synced up with my new HTC EVO 4G. Way faster connection than my iphone 3GS. As soon as I start the car up, it would sync in about 10 seconds vs may be 15 to 20 seconds on the iphone. However, on either phones, onces its synched up, works the same. Again, as same as everyone else, the LS's phone book is a hassle, need to use an older Motorola phone to get the contacts in.
