Default Navigation DVD Version

Hello-

What is the most current version of the Navigation DVD? I have an 05 LS430 and it is running version 04.2. Was wondering how old the version is that I am running as well as the current version.

Thanks,
Darin

The current version is 6.1, which came out in January, 2007.

Thanks Paul. Do you or anyone know how many versions that were in between? I'm trying to determine how old mine is and am not sure how many point releases there were between 4.2 and 6.1.

Also, how do I upgrade to 6.1? Is this something that Lexus has to do for me?

Regards,
Darin

You can buy the disk and install it yourself. Takes all of 5 minutes. Sewell Lexus (a vendor here) has them and there's a discount code floating around somewhere here (search Navigation Discount Code). I just installed mine recently and it's a dramatic improvement - but I had the original 2001 product. I think it's about $270.00 (well below the $350 - $400 dealers charge with install).

Upgrading won't mess up the address I have in the system already right?

NO. Your POI's, Home, etc. stay in the computer. The only thing you're doing is upgrading the disk. On the LS, the disk runs continuously. It's not "loading" information onto a drive.

They are all the same ones. The one from my GS doesnt have any Lexus imprints on it... just Toyota. Just make sure you get the same generation disc.

Hi, OBXTucker
My 07ES350 is runnning 6.1DVD in its navi. Can I use this 6.1DVD in my 04LS430 ? (My 04LS430 has been running the original 4.2DVD)

Last week, I tried to replace 4.2DVD with 6.1DVD, but 04LS430 did not detect the 6.1DVD. Do you have a clue why it didn't read the new 6.1dvd?

Please help.

Yes, DaveGS4 did a complete write up with pictures. Use the search function to locate it.

Make sure you get the newest 7.1 version for the Gen 2/3 navigation.

I just purchased a 2003 LS 430 Ultra and would like to update the navigation disk. I don't know anything about this, I heard from someone that it is a generation 3. Does anyone have an updated version that they are selling?
