what may cause a color to be rarer,..... is if it wasn't offered every year.
I had a 01 midnight pine, which i suspect is really rare, as I never saw another....
But it got totaled by a stranger, who fled the scene...
Then bought an 04 Flint Mica, very common color.
and last year bought a crystal white, also common.

The color combo that seems to be the most common is silver with Ash interior, I see them everywhere....imho

From 2014-2019 I owned a 2003 Mystic Sea Opalescent on Ecru. In 2019 I bought a 2004 Crystal White Pearl on Cashmere which I own currently.
MSO was only offered 01-03. It was a beautiful color, but I do love the bright reflective qualities of CWP.
As for silver on ash, yeah, not my fave, but ash makes the wood parts really pop. I like lighter, warmer colors.
