Odometer unit swap + rev counter needle swings
Hi all,
I'm trying to do some fine tuning on my recently acquired LS430 (it's a UK version and I leave in France so prefer to have metric unics everywhere).
I managed through TechStream to change the units of the board computer and it works fine (so now I have my range in km, my fuel mileage in L / 100 km...).
But I didn't find a way to change the units on the odometer / trip A-B monitor. That should be possible to me as the "miles" unit is kind of illuminated so I guess there's a way to switch to "km". Do anyone has an idea on how to change this ? I can live with this for sure, but it's a luxury car so you want to have everything at the right place and setting if possible
And perhaps a side question : I noticed the rev counter does some large "swings" where changing gears, so for example when there's a kickdown the needle swings a lot, much more than it should. Is that normal behavior ? I would expect mure more "straight to the point" behavior when changing gears.
Thanks!
Remi

Not a way to change the miles to km without a physical reprogram.
The large swings are normal with age. The motors that drive the needles have dampening fluid and become more loose and floppy causing the swings. Only way to fix would be find a lower mileage unit to swap the needle motors out of.

Thanks! So the odometer will stay in miles...
Got it for the motors. I guess it's quite a long work to have them changed. From what you tell me I understand there's no OEM replacement new for them ? (without replacing the whole instrument cluster).
Perhaps a side question also: is there any way to have access to the part number of each part of the car easily ? I downloaded the mechanical drawings set from the FAQ topic but there's no part number anywhere to be indicated. For my other cars I can go to the manufacturer website (or have a copy...) where I put the VIN of the car and get all the drawings and the part numbers that are the matching ones for my VIN.
For example, I'm looking for a tilt motor replacement for the steering column, but there are 2 references. I would hope to find a place where from the VIN of the car I can get the right reference (alternatively I will directly look at the motor installed in the car but that's much less convenient...).
