Question New Owner Questions

Hi Folks,

I just bought an '04 LS430, and there are a couple of things I need advice on that my owner's manual doesn't cover.

Do these cars come equipped from the factory with Bluetooth? If so, how can I confirm it?

The owner's manual says that the intensity for the interior footwell lights can be adjusted, but says to contact a Lexus dealer. Is this an adjustment that I can do at home?

Thanks!

don't think the Personal Settings are owner adjustable on the LS,, when ya go to the main Lexus site there are PDF files on all the other cars on how to adjust the personal setting,, for the LS it just says to see the dealer,,

as for the Bluetooth,, if ya have the navigation screen, upon starting the car after a couple minutes the bluetooth will indicated no connection made on the screen,, also look on the left side of the steering wheel where you could extend your fingers to touch the control with the hand remaining on the wheel,, if installed there is a coule buttons that you can contact to activate the phone and it will also be displayed on the nav screen,, they are located behind the speaker volumn control,,

If its an '04 and it has Nav, it has bluetooth.

Hmm....I don't think it has bluetooth then, because there's no confirmation on the nav screen at all, and the buttons on the wheel only adjust the stereo and the LCD message display under the odometer.

The MENU/SETTINGS on the NAV SCREEN will be needed to turn on and activate the BlueTooth functionality and matching it to your phone.

Lightbulb Bluetooth Settings

Specifically, go to Menu, then Settings, then you probably have to scroll down (page down) to the bottom/last line and you should see Bluetooth Settings. Hopefully self explanatory from there....

Thanks guys....I finally figured out how to pair up the devices.

I only wish the car's Bluetooth interface allowed voice commands like voice dialing, as my Bluetooth ear piece does. Is there any type of upgrade that I can add that includes this? Using a cell phone from a car without a hands free device will be illegal in California starting next year.

Lastly, my car's previous owner never upgraded the DVD map set. Does the upgrade have to be purchased and installed by my Lexus dealer, or can I buy it elsewhere and install it myself?

Thanks for the help!

Craig
