....happened to this site, the thrill is gone, lets get it back. This usta be a very active site, I guess the gas prices and all the other worries of the world got us caught up a bit. I understand, lets just hope the best for each other. And no disrespect to the non-christians on clublexus, but I will pray all is well for those doing good and bad on this site. Again Im not pushing my beliefs on anyone thats not what this site is for so with all due respect do I mention GOD, if your offended I mean no disrespect. GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME!!!!!
ur in the ls430 section....old people buy them. Maybe they cant read the forums anymore
I didnt start looking at CL somewhat regularly until december so i dont really know if it truely has slowed down but i wouldnt mind alawys see some more action!!!
Good thought Mel, start some interesting threads! One other factor to consider is that we've better segmented out the LS subforums so traffic is going to seem slower since it's spread across several forums.
Your right DaveGS4, it is more spread out here since I joined. With the new LS460/600 site being so active and the legendary LS400 site being around from day one it is more spread out when it comes to the LS than it used to be. GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME!
It does seem to have tapered a tad. I attribute that to the two LS forums now. Even at that, the LS400 posts are also slim. I know there are lots outthere cause I see plenty of first gen's being modded by younger folks...they are probably not aware of CL.
the only thing exciting about the LS430 is that i saw one on fire last night on the 10 east...whole car was ablaze...
I have never seen one on fire. But mine did actually "break down" about a week ago. The timing belt failed at the dangerous mileage of 160,000. It did not break, but the car slipped into a quiet slumber as it was running. This unfortunately was on a saturday so I didn't get my car back until monday afternoon (with a nine-hundred-dollar bill). I was glad it was so cheap. I guess what I've heard about LS400 having (I dont know if this is the right term but..) non-interference? engine is true? something about if a timing belt fails it could be worse without it.
ANYWAY, it was only a one-day fix. As far as modding LS 400's...I don't know if I speak for young guys buying them but I got mine because it is pimp-as-hell and (with the deal I found) affordable. However, modding them is not. I wish I could make my ride as VIP as say BR1AN for example, but without having the ability to do it myself that becomes difficult/ expensive for me to handle. But we are out there and the LS series is the FLAGSHIP series for a reason. (sorry SC and GS guys out there)

Wow Ku. Are you on your first timing belt or 2nd? If it's the 1st, then it does sound like you're lucky b/c with a broken belt, aren't there other components that will break with it like bent rods/heads....I don't know the proper mechanical parts related but heard that it is costly
As for the 430 forum, I usually visit here too but I'm guilty for not visiting here that much since the craze of the 460
I check this forum almost every day. I was watching the LS400 group when I had my 1996 LS, now with a 430, I have upgraded to this one. I do also wish there was more posts here, more tricks and tips about the car (I'm sure there is a lot of other features I have not discovered yet.
As for the Club Lexus stickers...I signed up for them, never got them....

It was the original belt. It didn't acutally break, it "jumped" or something. I saw the belt after the repair (my mechanic shows me all my broken parts) and it was very worn and cracked. It was still in one piece but was not able to perform its duty. As far as other parts being damaged; the water pump was broken because of the incident and one of the two coils that lights the spark plugs was weak (possibly unrelated). I have heard something about our (early lexus V-8's) having a, correct me if i'm wrong, "non-interference" engine. which prevents the broken rods with a timing belt failure. I am not any type of mechanic and all the information I just presented is what I have gathered from my mecahic and searching this forum and other websites. Please, correct me if I am wrong. Thanks, Dustin.
All those miles and the same timing belt is crazy! Your fortunate that no damage occured also. Im happy for you no damage happened that was to expensive, like $2,000-$3,000 dollars.GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME!
wow... very lucky! I thought the V8 lexus were all interference engines... I'm scared of mines breaking... i need to change it very soon as it is 8 000 miles till the 60k service.
yup.. i've been noticing a slump in activity in this forum.... possibly because of all the hype of the new ls.
