In-Dash CD Changer Horror Story
Anyone have the same experience? I've had my CD jammed inside the changer twice now. The first time, I managed to get the CD out accidentally after jamming 2 CD in one. The 2nd was not as fortunately, and took me several hours of work taking the center console and the changer apart to pull the CD out.
I noticed that the the mechanism inside the changer is quite fragile, and I'm guessing that the reason it got jammed was because I ejected the CD while the car hopped in resonse to the road condition. Which means that I should avoid changing CD's while the car is in motion?
Anyone have similar experience?

Is the CD an original or copy with a paper label? I have had several jam in my wife's MDX and we sorted it out that they were copies that my kids made and used paper labels on. We now copy and write on with permanent markers what the CD is and they seem to work fine.
I've not had any issues on my changer using copies or originals in my LS and we do change disc's at times when moving when the kids get tired of Mom and Dad's song's and want us to change it up a bit. Or when they want to subject us to their songs instead of using their portable players in the back seat. Teenagers!

AggieLS,
Thanks for your response. The 2 experiences I encountered are caused by original CD's. Good caution on the paper label regardless! Thanks!
p.s. very nice of you to be subjected to your children's music! However, if you acknowledge this as a precaution for not jamming the changer, you may be able to keep your CD's in the changer while you are on the road! ... just an idea!...

yeah i haven't heard about original cds causing problem. my is300 and sc430 are both ok.
but yes, cdr with labels, that's bad idea, coz' all the cds are packed inside the changer tightly, so that paper label is enough to cause a lot of trouble

I have a 95LS and the changer seems like it has a short in it, when I hit the brakes or turn left or right I get alot of static and then the cd just stops. So I tried to take it out but it is hard ashell I removed a bunch of screws around the changer and even the lower glove compartment. And I still can't get this thing out. do you have any pic you can sent me or and suggestions. Thanks alot

Different year. 2001's changer is under the radio not in the glove. Sorry. Do some more search or you may want to get a manual from your local auto part store. http://alldatadiy.com/ (online subscription to auto maintenance manual may or may not have it).
