Default Worts dealership experience ever!

I will apologize in advance for complaining about my dealership again, but this latest action is a fairly interesting one.

My ex-dealership claims that I owe them $53.00. Lash Lexus in Lewistown, PA. They have sent me a letter stating that the payment is overdue and they are threatening to take me to small claims court for $53 lol.

"Dear Sir:
This will be the last notice I send to you_ The next one will be from the collection agency. Please be advised that you have signed this bill and when I turn it in for collection you will have fines and costs. You will be sent a notice for court."

Funny thing on the bill, they have a signature for my name, but it is not mine or my wife's!!!. They forged a signature onto the bill... UNBELIEVABLE.

I am going to deal with the BBB, any other thoughts would be appreciated.

Fred.

PS by the way, I am a physician, and am not too happy with the forging of my signature. Seems to me this might be against the law.

A. Maybe you owe the money!

B. If you don't owe the money and it's not your signature, make a copy, circle the signature in red pen, and send it back with a note that it's not your signature. Perhaps it's a mistake. I doubt a dealer will sue you for $53, unless they felt you ripped them off and want to make a point. Be sure you want this to devolve into a legal battle, as you might win the battle but lose the war the next time you need a Lexus dealer for service.

Smile $53

I agree with D40, your a doctor and don't need the stress. Pay the $53 dollars because sometimes when you win you lose, and then when you lose you win. Court cost can be something terrible and the time you miss from work is costly enough. If they are wrong let karma take care of it. And if you belive in GOD he will take care of them for trying to rip you off. $53, just not worth it. Also I belive you, I dont think its your bill. Its probably a mistake. So go to the dealership and calmly resolve it to be sure. If you approach them upset they will react in the same way. Remember ask them in person about the bill to see if its a mix-up. $53 sounds like an oil change, thats about what I pay at Charles Barker Lexus Va Beach,VA, maybe your wife had it done and your unaware. My old lady does things all the time without me finding out until a bill comes, ha ha ha . (GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME)

Also Diesel11, remember in life never to make emotional decisions, in business its a death trap. Remember to use wisdom to solve your problems and not anger. (GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME)

What does being a doctor have to do with anything?

Anyway, Lexus service suxks! Sacramento and Rosevilel Lexus have the same owner. I will probably buy Mercedes or BMW or something else next time as I can't stand the bad service I get now.

Yes, I don't see what being a physician has to do with this. Forgery of one's signature is illegal no matter what your profession is!!!! From sanitation worker to President of the U.S.! You also never explained what occured to result in this $53.00 bill. From your post it almost seems like the dealer sent you an invoice for absolutely NO reason. Give us more info and only then can we comment on what has occurred. There are always two sides to every story.

Forgery of his signature as a physician on prescriptions, etc. can be an issue and something he is / should be sensitive to.

Diesel11,
Collection and dunning is a pretty automated thing to do... I don't think they're sending you this notice because they hate you, but because they think you owe them an outstanding balance over 60 days. It's all system driven... you show up on a report, they send you a letter.

You neglected to say if the work performed was something you had done to one of your vehicles... was it? If so (regardless of signature), I'd say pay up. It isn't worth your credit history for $53. Just take your business elsewhere afterwards.

Firstly, I finally was able to speak to someone at the dealership who would address the issue. They acknowledged their error, and the issue is resolved.

Disappointed in some of the responses.

Being a physician does have increased concern for froging sigs, because this sig allows me to write prescriptions and also allows the signer priviledged access to private information. Don't really see what the uproar was about for me stating this.

My actions and response were not 'emotional', I just wasn't given an answer by the dealership until several days after the incident. Imagine that you are sent a registered letter out of the blue that states you will be sent to small claims court, and you see your signature forged on the bill. Some might have reacted worse than me. I did report the incident to the Better Business Bureau. And yes, a long time ago I stopped going to this dealership, as they have been very unpleasant to me solely on the issue that I did not buy my car from them.

Guess I expected a little more support, but I won't make this mistake again. No worries. Love the forum, but this was a bizarre and upsetting incident that came out of no-where, and my first reaction was to post here for advice. Sorry, won't happen again.

Finally thanks DaveGS for at least making a reasonable point.

I would still highly discourage anyone from going to Lash Lexus in Lewistown, as this latest incident was only one of many problems they gave me. To be honest, when I was dealing with them when I had a GS300 I had bought off them, they were much more friendly, but certainly this is no excuse. Perhaps I am being too emotional

:

egads: Your signature, because you are a physician allows you to write prescrptions and gain private information, is not too totally different than many other non deities. Don't make a big deal over it; there are many other people whose signature can cause severe pain and suffering if their sig's are forged.

If I were in your position I would fight this to the bitter end; a matter of principle and maybe a lesson for the Dealer. In your case I would hire a good attorney (no comments necessary or permitted), have him/her respond and take it to court, if necessary. Naturally you would seek attorney's fees, court costs and other compensation. Personally I would pay for it out of my pocket just to stop this type of harassment from happening again.

I had heard of the wonderful ownership and dealeship experience of Lexus. I purchased an SC 430 and a LS430 within 2 months of each other last year. Because of the dealership experience, I have sold the SC and will soon be selling the LS. This is the worst auto owning experience that I have ever encountered.

Again, I think others have made the 'big deal' over this issue. Relax everyone, it is all going to be ok. The bigger issue is how poorly this dealership treated me. They have cancelled this bill and are looking into the signature issue. I won't ever be back to this dealership again, so I won't lose any sleep over it. I reported the incident to Lexus USA and the Better Business Bureau.

Lou, the 'deity' comment makes me laugh . Do try to imagine if this had happened to you... I'm sure you wouldn't have liked it either. In spite of the dealership's apology, there is no real way they could make this up to me. Lexus service for me has been worse than lacking!!

BTW I am not going to hire a lawyer, what good would they do anyway since they retracted the mistaken bill anyway?

Smile Sorry Diesel11!

I didnt mean my comments in a negative way at all. This has happened to me before and the first thing I did was get upset. If you read my 2 previous post again I posted in support of you. When I stated your a doctor, I meant that it would be to time consuming and also I said to call them until you get more info, like you did and it was resolved. And also I stated in one of my two previous post that I think your telling the truth. When people type on computers who aren't pro writers like David Frost, we can't always show emotion in writing for you to know we are in support of others. I am in support of you Diesel11 make no mistake about it. Im glad things turned out well.(GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME)

Appreciate your response. Just a trying/stupid issue. I apologize for any over-reaction. BTW I have found a new dealer for service (Arg 2 hours away), but it's worth it.
