Default Bluetooth

How much of the Bloototh functionality in the '04 LS430 can actually be used with the car in motion. Reading the owners manual, it would appear that you can basically answer an incoming call.

I already have a Nextel phone but am considering getting a Bluetooth enabled phone to use in the car. I'm not sure I will get the extra phone if all I can do while driving is answer a call.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Stan

You can dial any of the 1-touch phone numbers while moving. You can also dial with the phone itself. When you stop (for red light, stop sign, whatever) you can use the full phonebook. I like it.

Can someone explain what this offers? I know that bluetooth is a short distance, wireless communication medium that allows hardware to talk to other bluetooth devices. If you own a bluetooth phone, what does this give you if you also own a Lexus?

Thanks

If you own a bluetooth phone it allows you to talk hands-free with a bluetooth enabled vehicle. Also, you can usually sync phonebooks, etc. via bluetooth. When I get in my '04 LS430 and my phone is in my pocket , the car shows bluetooth connection, automatically and all incoming/outgoing calls or handled by the car or phone. Upon exiting the car my phone reverts back to normal use. It is too cool!

Thanks for the input. I will probably be gettiing one. I'm leaning to the T610/616 based on other posts here.

Here is something for thought. Nextel is planning on releasing 3-5 bluetooth enabled handsets by the fall. If you just want to use the bluetooth feature, I would suggest waiting, otherwise I would recommend the T630/T637. These are the replacements for the T610/T616. The screen quality is much better. If you have a choice, get the T616 or T637.

Verizon is about to release the Motorola V710 with Bluetooth. This phone is generating a lot of excitement on the cell phone forums. This is the phone I plan to get for my new LS.

good choice. I'm a fan of GSM technology but a CDMA phone with bluetooth will be worthwhile for those with verizon.
