Question Remote Starter on 2004 LS 430 ?

I have always enjoyed a remote starter with my cars (great to get them warmed up in the winter, and cooled down in the summer.) Not having owned a Lexus before and knowing that the 2004 LS 430 has the "SmartKey" option etc.....does anyone see any problem with installing one on this car?

Does smart key still function the same with the remote start? Can you just grab the door handle and unlock the door with the remote starter activated?

I currently own a Pontiac Grand Prix with autostart installed. It uses the GM passkey system. There is a chip in the key that must be near the cars sensor in order for it to start. When they installed my auto start they had to break off a keys head and "install" it in the car some where in order for it to work properly.

When I had my remote start in a UL LS430, I had Lexus make me another key with just the code in it and not cutting the key. I know it wouldn't do anything if they did have the key cut since it's UL Package. The installer put the key in the car and most of the smart key options didn't work anymore, I had to do everything with the aftermarket remote.

There should be no problem with the Lexus Remote being added to any Smart Start system. Check with your Service Rep and he should be able to square you away ....... It's a Little Expensive ( est $700-$1,000 depending on where you have it done) It works in conjuction with the fob operations of the Key ( Press lock 3X and hold on the 3rd ) Car starts and the vehicle is locked..... unlock the vehicle the engine stops ( security) ........... Check with your Lexus service guy ......... if he can't help you call me and I'll see what we can do.

Has anyone found if Clarion, AstraStart, Clifford or any others work with the '04 LS430 with SmartKey???

I just moved to the far north edge of MN and just about 100% of folks up here have remote starters on their cars/trucks.

Default remote starter

Look for a Viper/DEI install shop. They have what you need for a remote start in your car. The only Drawback is when you unlock the doors by pulling the handle the engine will shut off and you will then have to restart manually. Not a big deal, but otherwise someone else could just walk up and steal the car. All factory toyota remote starts function this way too.

1blkls430,

Do you happen to have a Viper on your LS & if so, what is the model? There is a dealer about 30 miles from me that might work. I've got an AstraStart dealer in the city where I am moving.

Thanks for your info.
