Default Tradein Value 2002 LS430 UL with 30K mi

Anyone know Club Lexus car dealer!

I went to a dealer here in Los Angeles (no names). We tried to get a price worked out on a 2004 RX330. I wanted to trade my 2002 LS430 UL with 30,000 miles.
The dealer gave me a good price on the new purchase. But only offered me $46,000 for my tradein. Can you believe that. This from a dealer that we purchased 2 GS300's , and my LS430. I deserve better treatment than that.

I pointed out to the dealer that he has the same exact color and option car, (same miles) sitting in his used car lot for $58,900. Even if that clown offered me $53,000 I would have done the deal.

Anyone one know good dealers in Los Angeles???

I know there is a guy named "Will" at Longo ...but when I called they told me he is no longer here.

Help me please !!!!

What was the response from them when you told them that?

Average wholesale on a 2002 LS430 UL is $44,500.00 and that's with 24k miles. ALL new cars take their biggest hit the first year. I know it sucks but, that's just the way it is. Btw, average wholesale reflects what the dealer can purchase the vehicle for at an auction. I know, I used to be a New car manager for the largest GM dealership in Chicago. I bought my 2002 LS430 for under $40,000.00 with only 6,000 miles on it from an 80 year old man who had no concept of what it was worth.

Don't go to San Diego, they are worse, split the difference and enjoy your 330.........I lived there for 30 years

You can easily get several thousands more if you sell it yourself. I have used the Autotrader on-line and it was cheap and worked pretty well. I sold my 1998 MB E300 for $3900 more than what the dealer had offered.

Default But what's a fair profit ! ! ! Give me your opinion!!

As I mentioned earlier, the dealer offered my only about $47,000, but had the same car on the lot for about $58,900.
Assuming I am a good buyer of used cars, I would offer the dealer $56,000.
So the daler is making about $9,000 profit.

Again, assuming the dealer took my car as tradein at $53,000 ...he still made about $3,000 on the sale.
What to dealers have to say about it? ....that's not enought profit. (They need more).

But when you want to buy a new car ..dealers day .."I'll sell you the car about $500 over invoice or over $300 invoice, etc ....

Oh ..so it's OK for them to make $500 when selling the new car (I know about the holdback of 2-3%).... but thay want to make several thousand on the sale of a used car.

Come on ...for a person who purchased 3 cars from the same dealer and same salesperson ..the dealer can do better than that.

** Come on guys ..I want your opinions and feedback *****
