Cheap Park Sonar Replacement
Hello.
The park sonar on my 06 ls430 sports package is not working. It's the front left sensor. I'm not willing to pay $300 for a sensor that I don't really use. But I was wondering if there was a cheap alternative that works because it's a pretty nice feature to have, especially for an 06 car. I want a sensor that has the OEM range but not the OEM price.
Thanks.

Ebay will give you what your want but the color won't be exact even if the listing is for your car color part number. Works perfect but generic white is what I got. Lexus recommends not painting as it will affect sensor. Could probably remove the paint and repaint.
Low price, good performance, long life. Pick two. On eBay you can find cheap aftermarket ones for a few bucks, or OEM sensors for around $100 (give or take 20 bucks), but there only ever seems to be white, silver and black OEM ones available. If you want the sensor to work properly, I wouldn't try to paint it. I believe the unpainted ring in the sensor is important and is probably why Lexus says not to paint them.
I bought 6 chinese black ones from eBay for about $60.
So far they are all still working (3 years in) and they don't stand out at all against my dark blue paint.
Getting the bumper off is a PITA so I'd rather replace them later than sooner, but so far they are working great.

I have the record of my eBay purchase but there is no brand and the German reseller no longer sells those parts.
I just ordered the relevant sensor part numbers which in my case for the front bumper (2004 LS430 but I believe all years are the same) was
4 off - 89341-50011
2 off - 89341-50050
Just search eBay for the part numbers you want. This is the list I compiled at the time for what is needed.
- Rear centre two - 89341-50020-** or 89341-50040-** or 89341-50050-**
- Rear outer two - 89341-50011-**

- Front outer four - 89341-50011-**
** is the 2 digit colour code if you want them colour matched but most eBay sellers only offer black, white or grey/silver.

Thanks for the reply and details. I've been looking for deals for a while as I'm not motivated to spend a bunch of money. But I finally have one that constantly goes off under 10mph due to damage and it's quite annoying now.
