Y'all are missing the point. The interface on the LS is ancient and limited.

Best thing to do is get a BT adapter such as https://www.usaspec.com/p-322-bt45-toy.aspx

This will give you music and calling, and turn-by-turn voice for your in-phone Nav (Google Maps).

No, I am not missing the point. You are missing the point. I DONT WANT TO kluge together some more crap on the car. I want an interface that works without rigging, and I dont need music or GPS and the phone already works. I ALREADY have music and GPS.and I am happy with them. I just want to transfer the phone book

I use a Galaxy S6. Works fine.

Prior, I had a Glaxy S3 and it also worked fine. And I was able to transfer over contacts on both phones. However, it's a 2 step process. First you EXPORT contacts to your internal storage or SD card. You'll end up with a file called "Contacts.vcf". Go to the location where the file is stored. Long press on the file name. It will light up or check mark. At which point you'll be able to SHARE (the 3 ***** attached by stick..see symbol below.). One of the options for sharing is via BLUETOOTH. It's at this point that you go through the Lexus procedure for reading in the contact list. Presto. It took me 2-3 tries...but it works.
