Default What is this hose exactly?

1st Post!

Recently had a used gearbox put in as the original was slipping.
long story short the new but used one is also slipping from 2nd to 3rd. (Same as previous but not anywhere near as bad and less worse when fully up to temp.
Gonna check fluids again Monday to be sure but could it be anything else? Just low fluid?

Noticed this hose open in the bay as well but surely not related?

Can you post a pic or 2 with a wider perspective?
This is kinda tricky for us here in the States as your battery, master cylinder, etc. are opposite ours because of the steering wheel location.
Maybe someone in the UK can chime in…

As for the slipping between gears, it's likely an ECU issue- https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...their-ecu.html
Especially since the new (used) trans does the same thing.

Pretty much next to the battery tray
Metal pipe at the bottom and the loose end of the hose is going under the engine cover.

https://www.japan-parts.eu/lexus/eu/...ol-engine-fuel

update the data categories (year, frame code, etc)

Look at tool/engine/fuel tab, sub category Ventilation Hose, or Vacuum Piping

Yeah I did try looking through amayama etc. But couldn't see it. Probably part of some weird sub section.

Wasn't the ECU more of an issue with the later FL models?

I'd focus specifically on your car and not "common" issues and/or trends.
I guess there's a chance the new (used) trans was filled with the wrong type of fluid but if you're experiencing similar symptoms after the replacement that kinda points directly at the ECU.

Thank you,
will get the garage to check it over tomorrow and see what's what. It's too much of a coincidence for it to be both boxes. But then means I could have potentially taken out a healthy box 🤦🏻‍♂️

Welcome Th3WhitePearl from soaking wet Essex, UK.
Can you please specify the year of your LS and whether it is a facelift or not? From your avatar it looks like a pre-facelift but not sure if that's your car.
The facelift models have the 6 speed transmission and are known to have occasional issues with the Transmission ECU and with coolant getting into the system.
The pre-facelift ones have a 5 speed transmission that can have Transmission ECU and solenoid issues.
There are companies that repair the Transmission ECUs.

As for the hose, if it's a facelift I can take a look at mine and let you know.
If it's a pre-facelift I suggest you ask on the UK forum

i took the engine cover off this morning and it goes to a trapezoid shaped air vacuum valve / probably part of the evap system reattached with a trusty zip tie.

and yes to prefacelift and 2002
i am hoping it isn't the ECU as i just took out a potentially good box if this is the case lol

thank you
