Talking Another Bluetooth Option for the LS!

I'm pretty sure I'm the first one to try this but the sc430mods bt music, aux and phone call harness works for the Ls430 also. My car is a 02 ML none navi with the 20 pin connector. Everything plugs right in and a much easier install than on the Sc430. Only 5 bolts total, pull out heated seat panel, take three screws holding in the cd cover, pull that out, then two screws for the head unit, pull that out and just plug and play the 20 pin harness in, there's more than enough room to hide the unit below the heated seats panel in front of the shifter. And you can run the aux cable and mic wherever you want.

Sound quality is much better than cassette aux and everything looks factory.

Much better than waiting for the mystery yatour ones from AliExpress and super expensive grom ones. Calvin is a super easy guy to work with and we're supporting a local business. Glad there's someone still developing parts for our platform.

Yup it's one of the best mods for the LS, I much prefer the oem head unit look than to hack in a double din. And I don't feel like spending the money to rebuild the whole audio system especially if it's still working.

Here's some pics of the install, pretty much plug and play the 20 pin connector. And decide where you want to run the mic.

Yup, that's the one, no updates as it's working fine, in both my LS and SC.

Thanks for this information. While going through the details, I noticed the disclaimer that steering controls do not change the tracks etc., do they work fine with the LS? Can you charge the phone via USB cable input?

Steering Wheel controls don't change tracks, only volume or mode. You might be able to USB charge but not sure how slow it will be, I don't think it is fast charge. I would ask sc430 mods, I never used the USB or aux. I just needed it for BT streaming and phone calls.

Thanks for your prompt reply. Are you aware if the units by Grom, VAIS or USA Spec BT45 change tracks with the steering buttons?

I've heard of them, but never researched them, I think they are at least double the cost with less features? Like I mentioned I stream everything off my phone anyways so I don't really need the change track. It's not like you can answer calls on the steering wheel buttons anyways.

I've been using the USA Spec TOY BT45 for over one year now. Sound quality is very good. Had one installed in my 03 LX470 to update the ML audio. Very happy with it, and not very expensive.

Completely agree. Why people feel the need to install a double-DIN unit is beyond me. First of all, it ruins the appearance of the beautiful wood center stack. Second of all, the steering wheel buttons won't work with it. Third, it's easy enough to just mount your phone near your line of sight; there's no special benefit that Carplay provides, since the phone's nav will now stream through your stereo and the visual information presented is the same. These little Blutooth boxes (Grom makes one; there are a couple others that work the same) are superb. They don't have any boot-up time; as soon as your car is turned on you're in business. And the steering wheel buttons do work with these ... you can answer and hang up calls, or switch audio tracks, right from the wheel. When I see an LS430 with a double-DIN screen installed, I immediately start to question the owner's IQ.
