Default Beat shocks for ls430?

I am looking for new shocks for my 195k mile 2005 LS430. Took to shop and they showed me that it has aftermarket coil shocks but I want something for a smoother ride. Going over small bumps in the road makes me wince! Should I go for OEM air shocks which I am sure are expensive or are there any aftermarket alternatives that you recommend where I can save some $$s? I’m not a mechanic so would not replace myself. Thanks!

There are plenty of threads about shocks, use the Advanced Search function. I had 90k miles on my 2002 OEM suspension and decided to replace them. First installed RockAuto Monroe Strut Assemblies (all 4). Rode sportier, like a BMW-5 series. The springs were notifiable beefier. Rode tighter, you could feel the road more, I didn't like it. Then bough the RockAuto KYB struts to repair the OEM springs. Got those 4 installed back in the car (w/ new KYB struts) and felt the same as the OEM 90k mile ones... There's some debate to the RockAuto KYB and OEM Lexus struts. Then even in OEM land there's the debate between the 2001-2003 Twin Tube struts vs. the 2004-2006 Mono-tube struts. From what I understand Twin-tube struts will fit in the OEM assemblies for the 2004-2006. And Twin-tube is supposed to allow for a more displacement/stroke than Mono-tubes can do. If I had to start all over again I'd just pay the money for the OEM struts from LexusPartsNow or some other website and not think about it.

OEM shocks are the best imo in my personal experience. I don't think you need to go for the OEM air suspension though - they're costly, and the difference between the regular vs. air isn't a huge one. I'd get the OEM spring shocks.

I went with a full refresh of OEM Sport Struts + Springs sourced from Bell Lexus North Scottsdale, couldn't be happier.

I just did the front KYBs and now I'd say that I wish I spent the little bit extra for OEMs instead.
