ATF exists in two places... Power steering and transmission. As far as I'm aware, no part of the power steering system goes all the way back to where the transmission is. So if you're leaking ATF.... it's from the transmission. That's the lower drain plug for it right?

Could be rear-main seal or some other part of the transmission that's leaking. Impossible to tell without better pictures. You need to get the car up on a lift.

Here are some better photos of it. I tried tightening it to see if it was loose but it wouldnt tighten any further and I didnt wanna strip the bolt. Do you think I need a new plug or just a seal or both?

Default 97’ transmission drain plug leaking not sure what part to buy

Transmission drain plug leaking fluid tried tightening it but it already felt snug and didnt wanna risk stripping it. Couldnt find much information about fixing it online and when I search for transmission drain plugs on various part store websites im only seeing oil drain plugs. Does anyone know what kind of plug I need to buy and where I could buy it?

The whole pan looks wet to me, but I can't tell if it's fresh or old. Get a clean towel and wipe it and see if it's yellow (engine oil) or red (transmission fluid) in color. The plug could be leaking, meaning it's the crush washer between it and the pan potentially, or it could be something else like the pan gasket.

You can also try to clean the area, drive for a bit (while monitoring your transmission fluid level of course) and then see if you can find where it's seeping from.

90341-10011

Should be available at any Toyota dealer- https://parts.righttoyota.com/oem-pa...igh-9034110011

It's a metal crush washer which rarely fails if it hasn't been disturbed. As CELSIOR mentioned it could be the pan gasket leaking. If the entire pan is wet it may only be noticeable around the silver drain plug as opposed to the darker pan. Repeating CELSIOR's advice- wipe it clean and see what happens. Maybe try to gently snug the pan bolts as well.

Thats a good idea will do and thanks for the info on the part! Are there any other places transmission fluid could be leaking onto the pan from other than one of the bolts I should look for while im under there?

So I wiped all the areas of the pan surrounding the drain bolt and it was just older black gunk except for that main drain plug which was covered in newer wet red fluid so I’m like 99% sure thats where its coming from. Im gonna call up my local toyota dealer and see if they have any of those plugs I can pickup.

90341-10011 is just the crush washer not the plug itself.

Do you think its worth getting both the washer and bolt?
