Default Stereo and AC out

A live wire was grounded, MY AC and aftermarket radio both went out at the same time, I've checked literally every fuse *one on radio as well*, under the drivers compartment and the hood, all good. Have checked the relays under the hood and all are fine, the only thing getting power is the clock to the AC unit. Super confused.....

I ran power straight from the battery to the wires, the radio and AC turn on, when undoing the wires and testing them separately each work as they should, so it has to be a fuse or relay, I've tried everything. This pos car is driving me crazy for something so simple.

When having direct power the blower motor does not engage but the climate works, checked all blower fuses and heater related ones with no luck.

Too add more information, I have power to the fuse box under the dash, so from the fuse box to the accessories (radio and ac) I am losing it.... I know for a fact I heard a pop when the wires touched, so I know it is a fuse, but I just can not figure this out.

How does messing with a radio end up shutting down the whole AC system! Makes no sense! Sorry guys I need to rant.

Everybody needs to once in a while. I've been holding in alot of stuff lately so someone is gonna get exploded on soon.
I don't know about the wiring but if you have power at the fuse box and not the radio maybe there's an inline fuse between them. Did you install the radio or a shop?
If ya can't figure it out ya might just need to run new wires from the fuse box up to the AC and radio. (with correct size wire)

Both systems use 15A radio fuse #2.

There is a common 20A fuse named "Radio No.1" next to the horn fuse in the big fuse/relay box behind the battery. It supplies power only to the radio and the AC controller. When this fuse line is open, both the radio and the AC stop working. I worry that this line has some problem. I'd check the continuity of this line using a multi-meter.

I've tried everything..... I have good connection everywhere, tried a different ac head unit, nothing.... next gonna pull the ecu and see if something is wrong there... never messed with one so not sure where this will lead.

You extracted and checked all relevant fusible links and, or fuses for continuity??

If you are unsure what next to troubleshoot, why not take to someone proficient...

How about the body ECU?

Would body ECU (not engine ECU).come into play?

Power locks work?

Dome light works?

Dash lights work?

I know if the battery is discharged/charging system is tired/damaged, then non-essential radio and A.C. will cut off.

Friends 98 had alternator issues (power steering pump leak)..first the radio shut off, then climate control...then instrument cluster...but the engine kept running for a minute more.

Everything works in the car except the power mirrors, everything electronic is performing as should, ill check my alternator, she looks clean from the top but doesn't hurt to spray it down a little

a bad alternator isn't going to prevent your AC and radio from working. Did you check the fuse box under the dash?
