1998-2000 LS400 MAF sensor appears more of a blockage in the intake stream than 2001-2006 LS430 MAF, suggesting increased efficiency using a less restrictive LS430 probe type MAF.

The LS430 MAF probe is reminiscent of 1990-1994 LS400 MAF probe, albeit different sensor technologies

Different connector shells on 1998-2000 LS400 vs LS430, but both employ 5 contacts.

While adapters could be configured, it is a matter of electronic compatibility.

Anyone know?


1998-2000 LS400 MAF sensor is quite bulky and looks like a space heater. Blockage and turbulence here.

The LS400 intake resonator partially removes the MAF box from the intake stream...but not by much.

LS430 probe appears to require less surface area to place sensors in intake stream

Another angle of LS430 MAF....the air temperature sensor appears to resides outside of the annular, while the airflow sensor is inside annular(?)
